High school dancers study tuition free at Harid Conservatory - Boca Raton, Florida - Brief Article

Dance Magazine, March, 2003 by Karen Hilderand

The Harid Conservatory of Boca Raton, Florida, celebrates its fifteenth season on March 8 at the Count deHoernle Amphitheater at Mizner Park. Among the alumni scheduled to appear in the student performance are Marcelo Gomes (class of 1996), principal dancer with American Ballet Theatre, and Elizabeth McGrath (class of 2001) of Ballet West in Salt Lake City.

Harid is a boarding school with a four-year ballet curriculum, which is recognized as a high school by the State of Florida. Students attend academic classes at Spanish River Community High School. Enrollment is by audition, and those accepted receive full scholarships for academic-year tuition. Awards such as the $5,000 Rudolf Nureyev Education Fellowships received in 2002 by seniors Amanda Green and Matthew Adamczyk (pictured), can help offset living expenses. www.harid.edu.
