THE SACRAMENTO BEE has done the numbers, and they look terrible for the newspaper's home state. California spends three cents per capita per annum to fund the arts. In comparison, Mississippi spends $1.31, New York spends $2.75, Germany spends $85, and Canada spends $145. "Pathetic:" is what the Bee called it.
