In Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, the new RICHARD B. FISHER CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS OF BARD COLLEGE opened its dance series May 1-2 with performances by the Merce Cunningham Dance Company and Ballet Hispanico. The center, designed by Frank Gehry with acoustics by Yasuhisa Toyota, features a 900-seat theater, a 200-seat theater, and studios and classrooms that will be used by Bard's dance and drama departments and for professional productions, www.bard.edu/fishercenter
JACOB'S PILLOW has been named a NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARK by U.S. Secretary of the Interior Gale Norton. Located in Becket, Massachusetts, Jacob's Pillow is the first site to be so designated because of its connection to dance and is the country's oldest dance festival.
