Photographer Nan Melville is being honored with a show of some 60 action studies of dancers, on exhibit at Princeton Ballet School in New Brunswick, New Jersey (October 12 February 27, 1999). This 1988 study of Baryshnikov in performance demonstrates not only her split-second reflexes but the distinctive texture she achieves in her prints.

Without getting too technical, let's just say she transfers the slide to Polaroid film, then on to prepared paper. If you can't follow that, don't worry about it. Just savor the result.
