Anita Morris, a Broadway and film actress, singer. and dancer, died of cancer in Los Angeles on March 2, 1994. She was fifty years old.
Born in Durham, North Carolina, she studied at the National Academy of Dramatic Arts and began her career with the American Mime Theater. Her appearances on Broadway included roles in Jesus Christ Superstar, Seesaw, The Magic Show, Sugar Babies, and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. In 1982 she was nominated for a Tony Award and won a Drama Desk award for her role in the musical Nine, choreographed by Tommy Tune.
