Hale and hardy: Marie Hale's Palm Beach company begins its ninth season on a firmer-than-ever footing - Ballet Florida

Dance Magazine, Sept, 1994 by Kristy Montee

"I never gave her the credit I should have," Hale says. "She didn't teach me ballet. But she taught me ambition, and that great magical feeling that it's a privilege to be onstage."

Hale leans back in her chair and takes a languorous draw on her cigarette. "I always thought I'd regret not dancing, but I'm surprised now to say I don't. I've been a teacher for forty-one years. I've learned that I don't have to do that perfect pirouette. I have dancers who do it"
