Picture imperfect

Natural History, June, 2002 by David L. Thompson

Nell deGrasse Tyson ("Universe" 4/02) writes: "The second and third Lagrangian points (L2 and L3) also lie on the Earth-Moon line, but L2 lies far beyond the Moon, while L3 lies far beyond Earth in the opposite direction." But in the illustration accompanying the article, the positions of L2 and L3 appear to be reversed. Which is correct, the text or the illustration?

THE EDITORS REPLY: The text is right. The illustration had been corrected to match it, but an earlier version was printed by mistake. The picture at right is accurate.
