DESCRIPTION: The Institute for Pastoral Studies (IPS) provides an opportunity for professional development for leadership in ministry today. Master degrees include pastoral studies, religious education, pastoral counseling, divinity and combined degrees. IPS operates year-round, three semesters a year-fall, spring, summer. Summer courses are offered in one-,two and three-week frames as well as weekend. Workshops and ministerial formation are also available. DESCRIPTION: Continuing education, advanced certificate in formative spirituality, leadership in ministry and liturgy certificates. The institute's continuing education program is designed for those seeking to update professional skills and for those seeking personal enrichment. All courses can be taken for updating/continuing education. The advanced certificate in formative spirituality is a summer program designed for persons experienced in ministry with an earned master's level degree or equivalent in a theological area. The purpose of the program is to enable pastoral leaders to become spiritual mentors for persons and for Christian communities of faith. Leadership in ministry certificate is designed to enhance leadership abilities for parish ministry, religious education, youth ministry, supervision, chaplaincy, liturgical celebration and other church ministries. The institute's self-designed, flexible study program may be pursued full-time during a sabbatical or part-time for up to three years.
