the rolling hills of western Illinois, Christ in
the Wilderness provides solitude and time
for reflection in one of three modern, self-contained
hermitages. Pray or meditate in
the beautiful small chapel. Sit by the brook
or explore 80 acres of meadow and woodland.
Choose from a library of books and
tapes on spirituality, discernment and meditation.

the presence of God and reflect on

KENTUCKY

PLACE: Cedars of Peace, Nerinx, KY

DESCRIPTION: Cedars of Peace is a cluster
of six cabins located on Loretto Motherhouse
property in central rural Kentucky.
The cabins are designed for those who wish
to spend time in solitude, reflection and quiet
prayer. The cabins are equipped with electricity,
cooking facilities and running water.
A simple prayer room is located among the
cabins. Daffy liturgy is available at the Loretto
Motherhouse church, a short, 10-minute
walk. Spiritual direction, books and tapes
are available. Cabins are rented by the month
or day. Long- or short-term stays are welcome.

Hermitage is located in west central West Virginia
in the Appalachian Mountains. Here
there are small cabins equipped with electric,
plumbing and cooking facilities nestled in the
mountains where one can find time and space
for solitary prayer. There is plenty of room
to hike in the woods and, if desired, to share
in some communal prayer and adoration
before the Blessed Sacrament in the recently
constructed straw bale chapel. Spiritual direction
