THE UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON'S children's center will be renamed the Bombeck Family Learning Center, honoring the late humorist Erma Bombeck, a 1949 graduate of the Marianist-run university. The center will be renamed and dedicated in the fall of 2001. Bombeck, who died at age 69 in 1996, became a Catholic while a student at the university. The Bombeck family recently contributed $1 million to the university's Call to Lead fundraising campaign.
