CALIFORNIA
PLACE: St. Albert's Priory, Oakland, CA TIME: Friday, June 21-Sunday, June 23, 1996 DESCRIPTION: "Violence Unveiled, The Gospel at Work in Our World." Conference led by Gil Bailie and Richard Rohr, OFM. We will explore and analyze the way violence creates and maintains cultures. We will identify the sacred and profane aspects of violence, the underlying dynamics of collective violence in maintaining world order. Then by means of a Scripturally based critique, we will propose that the Gospel has worked to undermine the role of violence in human culture and, indeed, brought us to the point where violence is no longer a viable option. Lodging (two nights, five meals) and conference fee: $150. Conference fee only $90. Make check out to: "Nevada Desert Experience." Write to: NDE, 1500 34th Ave., Oakland, CA 94601.
