Korean Catholics join anti-U.S. food boycott

National Catholic Reporter, June 16, 1995

Two Catholic farmers' movements in South Korea have joined 35 civic and consumer groups trying to stop what they call unfair U.S. pressure in trade disputes with their nation. The movements also urged the Korean government to reinforce regulations on food imports, reported UCA News, an Asian church news agency based in Thailand.

The groups, including the Catholic-inspired Save Our Farm and Save Our Wheat movement, have agreed not to eat or buy food imported from the United States nor to eat at Kentucky Fried Chicken, McDonald's, Wendy's or Pizza Hut restaurants.
