The Independence, Missouri, Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce the recent hiring of Susan Reynolds for its recreation program manager position. Before coming to Independence and the Midwest, Sue served as associate director in the Office of Recreational Services for the State University of New York College at Brockport, NY.

In that capacity, Sue was responsible for an extensive inventory of campus recreational and athletic facilities. She also served as adjunct lecturer for the college's Recreation and Leisure Studies Department, and supervised numerous recreation-based internships and part-time staff. SUNY is also Sue's alma mater, where she received both her M.S. in Recreation and Leisure Studies and her B.S. in Health Science/Recreation Management. With her new role in Independence, Sue is responsible for overseeing all facets of the recreation program within the Parks and Recreation Department. She will also be instrumental in helping reopen the historic Truman Memorial Building for public recreational use in fall, 2002, following completion of the City's current $5.0 million restoration of the 75-year-old facility.
