Topic: RSS FeedRecreation Officials Agree On Partnerships - Brief Article
Parks & Recreation, Nov, 2000
At a time when both land and dollar resources are becoming more scarce and hard to come by, partnering between agencies makes more and more sense. Who says so? The survey participants to BCA's May 2000 Survey on Health & Wellness Partnerships say so.
Approximately 82% of the survey participants were directors from park districts, while the remaining 18% were municipal park and recreation department administrators and directors. According to the survey participants, an overwhelming majority of respondents (83%) agree that they would consider developing a partnership to increase membership and programs. Less than half (39%) currently have a professional partnership with another agency.
Of the participants who would consider developing a partnership, a large majority (72%) would prefer a partnership with a professional health care provider such as a hospital. More than half (64%) would partner with a non-profit organization such as YMCA, municipality, or school. Over a third (38%) would consider partnering with a professional management corporation.
Of the participants, over three-quarters (81%) would want to remain in control of the management of the facility when developing a professional partnership with another agency.
