NRPA launches developmental grant program - Tip-Off
Parks & Recreation, Nov, 2003
Because of the success of the Sportstown USA program, which is a partnership between NRPA and Sports Illustrated, NRPA will continue to recognize parks and recreation departments that strive to meet the needs of their communities. With the help of the National Football League, which donated $165,000 in support of the creation of the program, NRPA will begin a new "Sportstown USA" grant program.
"We're hoping that Sportstown USA will be a goal where all communities can move forward to in the future," says Kathy Spangler, NRPA's national partnerships director. Look for more information on the new grant program in future issues of Parks & Recreation. In the meantime, see p. 52 of this issue for the most recently recognized Sportstowns.
