Oklahoma: Sapulpa puts parks dept. over $1 million mark - NRPA in Action - Brief Article

The Sapulpa (Okla.) Parks and Recreation Department received notice recently of two grants: the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) Grant Award of $50,000 from the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department for improvements to Davis City Park; and the Fishing Access Development Grant Award of $26,465.97 from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.
These two grants, together with other grants received in 2003, puts the Sapulpa Parks Department over the $1 million mark in grants received for the city.

Owing to the city's expansive and costly infrastructure needs totaling more than $50 million in the past five years, the Sapulpa Parks Department aggressively seeks external funding sources to repair, renovate and expand existing city facilities, and construct new, modern parks and recreation amenities that will greatly benefit its community. Since 1991, the Parks Department has received a total of 51 grants from private, state, federal and other sources, totaling $1,054,938.55 for facilities, equipment and programs that have directly benefited the citizens of Sapulpa.
