Armed Forces Recreation Society: bluegrass star entertains the Coast Guard - NRPA in Action - at the Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May, N..J - Brief Article

Parks & Recreation, Dec, 2003

During Labor Day Weekend under the threat of rain, a standing-room only crow at the Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May, N..J,. was treated to a concert by one of America's leading bluegrass artists.

Rhonda Vincent, one Nashville's hottest bluegrass entertainers, played to a packed house of Coast Guard personnel and their families, including Coast Guard by The Spirit of America Tour, a project of the nonprofit corporation Nina & Robert Rosenthal Foundation. The Spirit of America Tour has been providing professional, headline country entertainment to military installations within the continental U.S. and Alaska. The Spirit of America Tour arranges for the entertainers to volunteer their time to perform for America's men and women in uniform and their families.

One Coast Guard member, a young enlisted member stationed aboard the Coast Guard Cutter ACACIA, couldn't believe his good luck at having met Rhonda Vincent and her brand. An aspiring country musician himself, he asked all of the band members to sign his banjo, and of course, they were happy to oblige.
