National Outdoor Recreation Assessments - the Outdoor Recreation Resources Review Commission

Parks & Recreation, Jan, 1999 by Carter J. Betz

Management, will be inclined to better understand and manage for those recreationists who might be called "enthusiasts," the 10 to 15 percent of participants who account for 60 to 90 percent of all outdoor recreation trips and days. At the same time, continued emphasis will be placed upon providing more recreation opportunities for the traditionally underserved members of society including inner-city residents and people with disabilities. Increasingly, this will be accomplished through the expanded role and involvement of public-private partnerships and other collaborations that benefit both management and users.
