Abandoned property converted into urban park

Parks & Recreation, Jan, 2005

> Forty-two acres of abandoned military housing was finally turned over to Escambia County in Florida for public park and recreation use. In August, the National Park Service's Federal Lands to Parks program transferred the last parcel of land to complete the $800,000 donation. The panhandle county will now have a community park complete with ballfields, a recreation center and a cross-county urban trail.
