Massachusetts: MRPA recognizes community leaders - NRPA in Action - Brief Article

The Massachusetts Recreation and Park Association recognized two people for their longstanding commitment to the parks and recreation field. The awards were announced at the association's annual state conference in Danvers, Mass.
Cynthia Erho, recreation director for the town of Greenfield, Mass., received the Peter C. O'Brien Humanitarian Award, which was established by the MRPA's executive board in 1980. It is the highest honor bestowed by the MRPA, and to be considered, recipients must have been a member of the state association and have furthered leisure services field in the region. U.S. Rep. John Oliver, (O-Mass.), received the Legislator of the Year award, which is given to senators and/or representatives that have displayed dedication and advocacy on behalf of Parks and Recreation. Oliver was recognized for his work on the Transportation Enhancements program, which reappropriated $375 billion in funding this year thanks in part to Oliver's efforts.
