Audio tour guide

Parks & Recreation, Feb, 2005

Historic societies and park services wishing to enhance the promotion and information dissemination for historic sites can now provide their visitors with a great deal more information than will fit on the old-fashioned plaque. Developed and marketed by Landmark Audio Technologies, LLC (LAT), this technology makes it possible for historic interpretation to be provided and heard on readily available receivers, namely car stereos and portable FM radios. Using low-power, high-quality radio transmissions broadcast from their FM-350R series product, historic sites may now play messages and information describing exhibits, historic tours, location information as well as site hours. A customized message can be set to play 24/7 or on a timer, allowing visitors to tune in their car and get the latest information and site interpretation content without leaving their vehicle.
