Change of leadership
Parks & Recreation, Feb, 2005
Commodore Gene Seibert will lead the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, a 35,000 member, all-volunteer group of the United States Coast Guard. Seibert's vision for the auxiliary is an organization that will meet America's changing maritime safety and security challenges while bringing the American public an array of homeland security, recreational boating, marine and safety programs.
Seibert replaced Commodore Bill Edgerton in a time-honored traditional change of command ceremony Nov. 1, 2004, at Coast Guard headquarters in Washington, D.C. Seibert's two-year term as national commodore will reflect his catch phrase, "Ready, Responsive and Resolute." "Ready focuses on the roles and missions for which the auxiliary has been given authority to fulfill. Responsive is our ability to respond, to adapt and to embrace change. Resolute speaks to our value system, our commitment to our nation and the Coast Guard; dedication to our mission and our commitment to the public," Seibert said during the ceremony.
