New scholarship established
Parks & Recreation, March, 2006
The NSPR Board approved to sponsor and fund the new Richard Trudeau Advocacy Scholarship program. The scholarship program is in the name of one of the "giants" in the park and recreation profession who was especially effective as a legislative advocate on the local, state and national levels. Trudeau died in 2004 after serving many years as the general manager of the East Bay Regional Park District in California.
The competitive scholarship program is designed to recognize a young park or natural resources management professional who has demonstrated strong skills as an advocate for park and recreation resources. The $1,000 scholarship will pay for expenses to the NRPA Mid-Year Legislative Forum and will be offered every two years beginning in 2007. Applications will be accepted during the coming year.
