PGMS launch grounds management seminars and visits
Parks & Recreation, March, 2006
The Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) will hold a series of grounds management seminars and site visit programs March 9-10 at Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz.
The seminars will feature classes on customer service, staff motivation, time management and benchmarking, diversity management and leadership. The visitation program will include behind-the-scenes tours of ASU facilities, and a trip to the Phoenix Zoo.
"The programs are designed to fill a real need for the grounds manager" said Ellen Newell, PGMS president and assistant grounds manager for ASU. "The goal is to have attendees come and really learn, think and leave with solid management and leadership ideas that they can then implement at their own facilities."
The ASU regional seminar and site visitation will be the first of two scheduled by PGMS in 2006. The University of Delaware will host the second later this year. PGMS plans to hold three regional programs in 2007.
