Federal program grants Memphis with park land

Parks & Recreation, March, 2006

The National Park Service Federal Lands to Parks Program transferred about 18 acres of the Memphis Defense Distribution Depot to the City of Memphis, Tenn., for park and recreation use.

The Memphis Division of Park Services plans to use the land, worth $430,000, to provide a multi-purpose community center that will include an aquatics center, as well as plenty of open space for citizens to use.
