March 17, 2005 Greening of the Fountains in Savannah, Ga.

Savannah, Ga., hosts the largest annual single-day celebration in the southeastern United States every March 17. St. Patrick's Day draws 400,000 people to the squares of the city for a huge parade and the traditional "greening of the fountains." At the greening ceremony, Savannah's St. Patrick's Day Parade Executive Committee pours green vegetable dye into square fountains, including this one in Forsyth Park, one of Savannah's most recognizable landmarks.
