Sessions for citizens

Successful outcomes in the park and recreation field are really times the direct result of engaged, knowledgeable citizens, professionals, and students. To help foster this environment, the C-BM branch has announced several workshop sessions for this year's NRPA Congress Oct. 12-15 in Reno, Nev.
The branch hopes these workshops will help educate the citizen volunteer, friend, commissioner/boardmember and professional:

Special Congress Session
In a special session at the NRPA Congress in Reno, Nev., National Park Service Director Fran P. Mainella (below) will address professionals and students about the future of our nation's public spaces. Like many other agencies, the National Park Service confronts challenges such as increasing visitor use, security concerns and an aging workforce. Mainella will discuss what the managers of today are doing to combat these dilemmas plus what the managers of tomorrow will face in coming years. The session is entitled, "Horizons: Connecting Current and Future Leaders," and is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 15 from 10:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
