Therapeutic recreation camp awarded grant

Parks & Recreation, July, 2004

The Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation (CRPF) obviously knows a star when it spots one. The organization recently awarded Camp S.T.A.R. (Sports, Teamwork and Recreation), organized by Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center employees, a $5,000 Quality of Life grant.

The camp provides youth with physical disabilities opportunities to play sports. The money from the grant will provide specialized sporting equipment such as racing wheelchairs and adaptive seats for kayaks and canoes.

The Camp S.T.A.R. award was one of 103 nationwide that CRPF awarded last year, with a total of $4.2 million award in Quality of Life grants since 1999.
