Baseball fund hits a homerun for new park

Parks & Recreation, July, 2004

In April, the Gainesville (Ga.) Parks & Recreation Department, in conjunction with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the city of Gainesville, Ga., received a $69,000 grant from the Baseball Tomorrow Fund to construct the Positive Place Partnership Park. The money also went toward the purchase of equipment and uniforms for T-ball, baseball and softball programs. Nearly 300 youth, ages 6-18, will participate in the programs.

The Baseball Tomorrow Fund, a joint initiative between the Major League Baseball Players Association and Major League Baseball, is designed to promote and enhance the growth of baseball throughout the world by funding programs, field improvements and equipment purchases to encourage and maintain youth participation in baseball and softball.
