NRPA introduces distance learning programs
Parks & Recreation, August, 2005
In an effort to reach out to members and the profession, NRPA has begun providing learning opportunities available online. Two different types of distance learning programs are available to members and non-members from the NRPA Web site. The Lecture of the Month series is free, unless you would like to earn CEU credits. Lecture topics include "Developing a Business Plan," "Guest Service in Commercial Recreation" and "Programmers Toolbox." The lectures were given at the 2004 NRPA Congress in Reno, Nev. Participants will be able to hear the lecture, as well as see the slide presentation that accompanies it.
If you are interested in learning about liability and other legal matters as they pertain to parks and recreation, there is also a series of sessions available for a small fee and for CEU credits offered by Law Review columnist James Kozlowski. Students are asked to read the materials, then answer a series of review questions to earn credit.
For more information on the Lecture of the Month, visit www.nrpa.org/lecture_month and for distance learning, visit www.nrpa.org/continuing_ed.
