Actor and environmentalist Ted Danson's first starring role was on the basketball team at Connecticut's Kent School in 1961, before his interest in acting emerged while attending Stanford University. From his 1979 film debut in Joseph Wambaugh's The Onion Field to his role as the cool Casanova Sam Malone in the hit series Cheers, Danson has captivated audiences in both comedic and dramatic roles.

The actor is also very involved in the American Oceans Campaign (AOC), an organization he helped found in 1987 to publicize the hazards created by abuses of the ocean and to illustrate how we can participate in protecting marine resources.

Danson shares his simple philosophy. "If you actively do something, it will stop making you feel like a victim, and you'll start feeling like part of the solution, which is just a huge benefit to your body and your psyche."
