Sing Out! The Folk Song Magazine, Fall, 2006
Last year, the Helena, Arkansas, King Biscuit Blues Festival was forced to change its name to the Arkansas Heritage and Blues Festival after negotiations between the festival and King Biscuit Entertainment, the owner of the copyright to the name, broke down. Soon after, King Biscuit Entertainment formed a partnership with Memphis' Performa Entertainment and the two groups announced plans for their own King Biscuit Blues Festival beginning in Memphis this Fall.
The Arkansas festival has established on online petition that urges blues fans to focus on the true heritage and history of the King Biscuit name, and not support efforts to cash in on the hard earned history and good will from their work over the years. To get more information, to find a link to the petition, or to see how to help and learn about this year's festival, go to <www.bluesandheritage.com>. This year's Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival will be held October 5-7.
