Scouting report
Sporting News, The, April 1, 2005
The Buccaneers upgraded the tight end position by signing former Jet Anthony Becht. Though he's limited as a receiver, Becht (6-5, 272) is an excellent blocker who's very strong at the point of attack and has the mobility to pull and deliver in effective shove in the open field. Becht, 27, doesn't have the speed to be a downfield threat or to get open down the seam but uses his strong upper body to get separation in the short and intermediate zones.

The team will make generous use of him in the red zone--he has 17 touchdown catches in his five-year career--but Becht needs to do a better job of securing the ball and getting yards after the catch. He has only seven career receptions of 20 yards or more.
