Chief photographer Albert Dickson tells the story of the A's Avenger (9-year-old Jake Chambers of Valley Springs, Calif.), who prowled the aisles of Phoenix Municipal Stadium during a spring training game: 'As he chanted "Let's go As!" at the top of his lungs, in a costume he designed himself, there was only one issue--it was an introsquad game. He was briefly able to get a portion of the modest crowd cheering, but slowly, sadly, Jake's support dwindled, leaving him as a one-boy cheering section, rooting for the only team on the field.'
