Top 5: players who are in their last weeks with their present teams

Stan McNeal

1 Latrell Sprewell, SF, Timberwolves. He ridiculed the T-Wolves last fall when they offered a three-year extension worth a reported $27 million to $30 million. Ridiculous, indeed. Given the way he has shown his age this season, Sprewell will be lucky to get half that much when he becomes a free agent this summer.

2 Donyell Marshall, PF, Raptors, He will be one of the top unrestricted free agents on the market, which means any team hoping to land a star player will have to do so via trade.

3 Ron Arrest, SF, Pacers, No matter what the Pacers say, word is they want to move Artest. Still, it's tough to let go of an All-Star with a bargain contract. The Knicks would be thrilled to get him, but, like everyone, they'll have to be creative to offer the Pacers anything close to fair value.

4 Lamar Odom, PF, Lakers. He has spent the season staying out of Kobe's way and staying in foul trouble. (It's not easy defending power forwards when you're not a power forward.) Free him, please.

5 Any Blazer whose contract is up. See ya later, Damon Stoudamire, Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Nick Van Exel. But don't raise your hopes for the Blazers. They still will have a locker room full of bad contracts.
