If Rosevelt Colvin sustains the improved play he flashed in the playoffs, the Patriots' outside linebacker rotation of Colvin, Mike Vrabel and Willie McGinest will be lethal. Colvin sat out most of 2003 with a broken hip and was a shadow of his former self most of last season, having lost a step because of the metal plate in his hip.

But toward the end of the season, Colvin began to show his trademark burst and quickness off the edge. That progress is consistent with other players who have returned from Colvin's Bo Jackson-type injury. In other words, the recovery time is actually 18 to 24 months.
