Oval Office Interviews

Sporting News, The, April 16, 2001 by Bob Margolis

Which is bigger, winning the Daytona 500 or the Winston Cup championship?

Mark Martin: I haven't won either one, but I'd like to win both. I guess winning the Daytona 500 would be bigger.

Jeff Gordon: I've won both. They're both great feelings, I guess the first time I won the Daytona 500 was pretty big. I would like to win it again ... and the Winston Cup, too.

Matt Kenseth: They're both big. Which one would I like to win first? Daytona.

Dale Jarrett: They're both great. I've won Daytona twice. I've won the Winston Cup only once, so far. It's hard to say which is bigger. But I guess the Winston Cup because you work so hard all season long to win it.

Bobby Labonte: The Winston Cup, but I'd like to see what it's like to win the Daytona 500.
