1. Time to exhale. The boys get their first weekend off, but you know the danger that lurks next week at Talladega will be on their minds.

2. Happy anniversary. It was nearly six years ago that Stacy Compton mortgaged all his possessions to get the cash to nm a Winston Cup race at Martinsville. He had a respectable showing last Sunday, finishing 15th.

3. Most improved. Bobby Hamilton gets the nod. He's eighth in TSN's power poll; last season he finished 30th in Winston Cup points. Hamilton and crew chief Jimmy Elledge are clicking.

4. Casting his Stewart on Martinsville: "I still wish they'd just fill it up with water and put bass in there."

5. Room to maneuver. Dale Jarrett saved precious seconds in the pits alter Todd Bodine, pitting in front of him, lee the race early. That was key because of Martinsville's tight pit quarters-even with improvements.

6. Still truckin'. Ron Hornaday was reunited with his former truck crew chief, Graves. He ran well before a flat tire relegated him to 27th.
