Dream week: April 14-20
Sporting News, The, April 22, 2005 by Chris Bahr
THURSDAY
Diamondbacks at Nationals
* It's strange enough to see a team in D.C., but how about the Nationals playing host to the D-backs for a three-game series--with Friday as an off-day?
FRIDAY
Mariners at White Sox
* Is this the American League? The Mariners and White Sox rely heavily on speed at the tops of their lineups, with Ichiro Suzuki (36 steals last season) and Scott Podsednik (70 swipes) setting the table. Both teams look dramatically different from last season, and Seattle's offense is getting a huge boost from ex-N.L. sluggers Richie Sexson and Adrian Beltre. For Chicago and Seattle to contend, however, their questionable rotations must step up.

SATURDAY
Twins at Indians
* A crucial early-season test in the A.L. Central.
SUNDAY
Marlins at Mets
* Marlins lefthander Al Leiter, who won 95 games for the Mets over seven seasons, will return to Shea Stadium to face his former teammates.

MONDAY
Braves at Astros
* Pitching is likely to dominate this NLDS rematch. Houston's Roger Clemens and Atlanta's Tim Hudson are on course to face off in the opener.

TUESDAY
A's at Rangers
* Oakland's young pitching staff will take some lumps this season, and the visit to Ameriquest Field to face Mark Teixiera and Co. certainly will be a challenge.

WEDNESDAY
Cubs at Cardinals
* Another scheduling oddity: The Cubs and Cards have a two-game set, then don't meet again until July 22.
