The Dog's last days?

Sporting News, The,  April 22, 2005

Back when he was the No. 1 pick in the 1994 draft, Glenn Robinson was known as "Big Dog" for his ability to lead a team. Later on, the nickname came to stand more for how Robinson played defense. Things got so bad that after he lost his starting job in training camp this season, the 76ers told him not to come around--even though they were paying him $12 million. He finally was traded in a deadline deal of bad contracts to the Hornets, who bought out his deal and waived him.

But Robinson hooked on with the Spurs early this month and made three of four field-goal attempts in his first game of the season. With the end of the season less than a week away and Robinson a long shot to make the postseason roster, he doesn't have much time left to show the league he's worth another contract. Robinson, 32, says he is not ready to give up on a career in which he has averaged 20.8 points over 11 seasons. "1 just want to go out and have some fun again, play basketball and have a smile on my face," Robinson told the San Antonio Express-News.--From wire services
