An Italian stallion
Sporting News, The, April 29, 2005 by Paul Grant
It's an international thing. Baseballissimo: My Summer in the Italian Minor Leagues is about a Canadian pursuing the American pastime in Italy. Multitalented author Dave Bidini, popular in Canada as the Hockey Nomad, leaves behind the mukluks and goes off in search of his favorite summer game. In Nettuno, a town an hour south of Rome, Bidini shadows the Peones, a low-minors team about as far away from fame and entourages as New Kids on the Block.

Through such real characters as Skunk Bravo, the Natural and Pito the Stricken, in Baseballissimo Bidini discovers his forgotten heritage and the true meaning of what is, to him, more than a game. Funny, poignant and politely passionate, Baseballissimo is, in a word, bellissimo.
