Getting a jump on the competition

Sporting News, The,  April 29, 2005

Cowboys QB Drew Henson loves to travel the world, but he has been so busy working on mechanics this offseason that he hasn't had a chance for globe-trotting. Henson is throwing several times a week to try to hone his skills and put himself in position to compete against Drew Bledsoe for the starting job in 2006.

Henson hasn't conceded the starting job this summer, but he knows the Cowboys didn't guarantee Bledsoe big money over the first two years of his deal for him to sit on the bench this season. Henson has impressed coaches with his work ethic and grasp of the offense, and they expect him to show significant improvement in the preseason.
