Now we're talking

Sporting News, The,  May 13, 2005  by Tricia Garner

Bob Costas is back. The Emmy Award-winning host for On the Record with Bob Costas is bringing a new sports magazine show to HBO. Costas Now will incorporate some of the elements of On the Record but will put more emphasis on timely, hot-button topics.

"Instead of being on every week for 12 weeks, we'll be on once a month for 12 months, like Real Sports. It allows us to be more topical, and we won't be off the air when something like BALCO happens," Costas says. "It allows us to be more issue-oriented, with some nonsports guests and some humor."

The premiere episode features a story about former Red Sox home run champ Tony Conigliaro, a panel discussion involving Charles Barkley, Cris Collinsworth and John McEnroe and a humor segment by comedian Wanda Sykes called "Disrespecting the Game." Costas Now will debut May 13 at 9 p.m. ET.
