Can't quite nail that crossover dribble? Does your shot keep rimming out? Magic Johnson Fundamentals is a step-by-step tutorial designed to help firm up the soft spots in your game. The two-DVD set goes through basic drills in four areas: ballhandling, shooting, playing the post and defense. Each move is demonstrated and explained by Johnson or another hoops notable. (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire, Richard Hamilton, Kenny Smith and Diana Taurasi all make appearances.)

Johnson's effusive, occasionally hyperbolic commentary ("He will dunk on you and block your shot--all at the same time!" he crows of Stoudemire) can be grating, and one-on-one chats with his hoops buddies between segments get old quickly. But you can skip those parts--most of the user-friendly set is devoted to the drills. The instruction is simple, informative and effective, even for serious players. Magic Johnson Fundamentals retails for $39.99 and can be purchased at magicfundamentals.com.
