Coming attractions

Sporting News, The, June 7, 2004 by Chris Bahr

After this weekend's series wrap up, interleague play begins for all but two N.L. teams. The interleague schedule isn't too intriguing yet (Royals-Expos!), but there are some good matchups. For example, the Phillies and White Sox, who both have postseason dreams, will hook up in Chicago.... The world champion Marlins will meet an old nemesis when they play the Indians in Cleveland.

The faces certainly have changed since the clubs met in the 1997 World Series, but both are again Ioaded with promising young stars. In another World Series rematch, the Reds visit the A's.... The Rockies come to Yankee Stadium on Tuesday, after the Bronx Bombers seek some revenge against Alfonso Soriano and the Rangers.... Before the Giants visit the Devil Rays, they'll face the Rockies at Coors Field. If his back is healthy, Barry Bonds should put on a show. He has 12 homers at Coors in the past three seasons.... The upstart Tigers, who finished with 58 fewer wins than the Breves last season, could be in position to overtake Atlanta in the win column during the teams' series.... What about those two N.L. teams not facing A.L. competition? Well, the Cubs and Cardinals hook up at Wrigley Field again, this time for four games.
