Your turn

Sporting News, The,  June 24, 2005  by Andrea McNally,  Ryan Karkoska,  Michael Schmidling,  Carl Smith,  Gabriel Rossman,  Jeff Morris

'Does Ricky Williams have football passion? Suuuure--until he sees the light at the end of his debt tunnel. Then it will be off to Margareeferville again.'--Andrea McNally, Pangburn, Ark.

* I'm not sure why there was such a big deal made about Larry Brown possibly going to the Cavaliers (TSN, June 17). He would end up leaving after about three years anyway--like every other job he's ever had.--Ryan Karkoska, Georgetown, Del.

* Todd Jones talks about what players have go through with fans' requests for autographs (TSN, June 10). An autograph is a very small price to pay when you consider fans are paying players' million-dollar salaries. You knew what came with the territory when you chose your profession and signed your contract. Deal with it!--Michael Schmidling, Waukesha, Wis.

* Saying that Reggie Miller should have to wait awhile before entering the Hall of Fame because a few others did (TSN, June 3) borders on the absurd. Miller holds the career record for 3-pointers made and is the 12th-leading scorer in NBA history, and he should have to wait to enter the Hall of Fame? --Carl Smith, Valparaiso, Ind.

* The NBA has lost one of its greatest players, best clutch performers, toughest competitors and classiest guys to play the game. Thank you, Reggie Miller, for your great career.--Gabriel Rossman, Great Barrington, Mass.

* After reading the recent article "Inside a house arrest" (TSN, June 10), I find myself wondering why a fantastic publication such as the SPORTING NEWS would publish such a piece and why a fine writer such as Elizabeth Merrill would waste her time researching the life of an athlete who spends his time under house arrest. Are we to feel empathy, pity or just plain disgust for this man who, in his own words, "got away kind of lucky" after blowing a 0.189 into a Breathalyzer? We all make mistakes, but should we be glorifying this one?--Jeff Morris, Tigard, Ore.
