Judgment call
Roberts BrendanOn the docket: Which surprise player will keep up his hot hitting: Brewers center fielder Brady Clark or Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts?
Arguments: Clark had just 219 big-league at-bats when he turned 30 in April 2003. Now he's battling for the league lead in hits. Roberts came into this season with a .264 career average and 12 homers in 1,502 career at-bats. He entered the week batting .364 with 11 homers.
Verdict: Clark. Before the Brewers finally gave him a chance in '03, he posted solid batting averages and on-base percentages in the minors. Roberts has more speed, but he doesn't have Clark's pure hitting skills.
