Even the best golfer loses a few balls--sometimes, more than a few. With that in mind, Visiball USA recently introduced the Visiball golf ball-finding glasses ($39.95; visiballusa.com). The glasses, intended to enhance white objects, feature blue-tinted special lenses that were designed after four years of testing.
SPORTING NEWS senior photo editor Paul Nisely, an avid duffer, tested the Visiball glasses. "They will find balls on a sunny day on a well-kept golf course," Nisely says. "But golfing in low-light situations--dawn or dusk--makes it harder to find the lost balls. The blue color really cuts down on the light coming through the glasses. Like wearing sunglasses indoors, everything is dark." Plus, he says using the glasses at a municipal golf course--with a thick rough and brown grass and leaves--won't necessarily help because the balls don't jump out as well against the background.
Though the glasses aren't flawless, they could be the perfect solution for the golfer who's always stocking up on balls. Bottom line, Nisely says, "I would buy them, especially if I was always losing balls. Which, of course, I am."
