Ray Brown is just like most guys entering middle age. He's got kids in college. His joints get stiff every now and then, so he makes appearances at his wife's Pilates classes to loosen them up.

Ray Brown is just like most guys--except that he's not. The Redskins' Brown, 42, is the oldest offensive lineman in the NFL since World War II. He enters the 20th training camp of his career this month, an impressive accomplishment for a man who entered the league as a lowly eighth-round draft pick. We'll talk to Brown about his fascinating career on the eve of what could be his final season. That's just one piece of our expansive NFL training camp preview, which includes in-depth looks at the big issues for each team entering camp.

Also next week: A preview of the second half of the baseball season. The theme of "expect the unexpected" dominated the first three months. Which of the first half surprises will hold up down the stretch? Find out in the next issue of the SPORTING NEWS.
