Forget radio, mp3 downloads and even MTV. Musicians now are turning to video games to drive sales and launch new songs. Case in point: Alternative rock group Green Day will release the title track off its iupcoming album American Idiot on EA Sports' highly anticipated Madden NFL 2005, due in stores August 12.
If history is any iindication, the move should generate ample buzz in time for the band's September 21 album release date. EA Sports' first video game soundtrack, for NBA Live 2003, went platinum. Other bands featured on the Madden NFL 2005 game include Hoobastank, New Found Glory and The Hives.
